Get an early glimpse of the highlights of The Pavilions of Harrogate Decorative, Antiques & Fine Art Fair at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate from June 14-16. Book early tickets online for a discount.

A superb antique Windsor armchair made in Yorkshire will be one of the highlights at The Pavilions of Harrogate Decorative Antiques & Fine Art Fair this summer.

Belonging to Leonard Handley of Dales Antiques from Kirby Lonsdale, the ‘stickback’ Windsor chair dates from around 1800 and is rare collector’s piece made from ash wood, giving it an attractive colour. As Leonard explains: “This chair is not only very comfortable but has clearly been loved for more than 200 years.” It will be priced at £2,950.

Dales Antiques will be selling a wide range of country pieces, including farmhouse tables, chairs, chests and cupboards, and unusual decorative pieces such as a charming Irish toleware tea canister. Leonard Handley is also a specialist in 17th and 18th century Delft pottery, known for its striking blue and white designs and a range of pieces will be on offer.

Wide range of antique furniture on sale

“We’ve got a wider range of antique furniture now than for years,” explains fair organiser Sue Ede. “Our regular exhibitor Mike Melody Antiques has been showing for more a decade and will be offering farmhouse dressers, tables, sets of chairs and many unique pieces. Mark Buckley Antiques, a Yorkshire dealer, will be specialising in fine Victorian and Edwardian ‘town’ furniture, while Peter Bunting Antiques joins us with early oak and country pieces.”

Clarice Cliff to Royal Doulton and Art Deco bronze

The 20th century is strongly represented by Andrew Muir Decorative Arts & Design who specialise in Clarice Cliff, Moorcroft and designer Studio pieces from many of the leading designers. Candice Horley shows Royal Doulton and European figurines and fine costume jewellery and Deco by Design specialise in unusual iconic collectables. Hickmet Fine Art return with a fabulous collection of Art Nouveau and Art Deco bronze sculpture.

Oil paintings and animal sculptures

The fair is popular for its strong range of fine art. Returning will be Haynes Fine Art and Rastall Art from the Cotswolds, Walker Galleries from Yorkshire, and Rowles Fine Art specialising in Modern British and contemporary oil paintings and animal sculpture.

Studio glass, ceramics and jewellery

French and European 19th and 20th century sculpture will feature from Solo Antiques, Chester’s Farm Gallery promise a selection of rare and unusual ceramics, glass and pictures, and Glass of All Ages present a colourful display of 20th century and contemporary studio glass. Jewellery specialists include Plaza, Scarab and Shapiro & Co.

The fair is organised by Cooper Events of Somerset and will take place at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate HG2 8NZ, from June 14 -16.

Public opening times are Friday – Sunday, 11am-5pm.
