YP Letters: An unwelcome welcome - Grassington's parking policy
THE annual Grassington Festival is a flagship attraction, organised by a dedicated team of locals.
The village dresses itself and welcomes its guests, many of whom are strangers to Grassington – we were one such pair. With tickets for an evening concert and not wanting to litter the streets with our vehicle, we turned into the first car park, the one operated by the National Park authority, to be charged £4.50 for the evening, parking charges being operative from 6am to midnight.

A message to the National Park operators – if you are going to operate on the basis of city multi-story car park tariffs, you may show the customer some consideration by having paid attendants, lighting and signage to the exits.
You may also consider updating your machines to take card payments.
Scarborough, one of the most visited towns in the whole country, has free parking after 6pm, as do almost all other areas of the county. Why not you?
