FORMER TEACHER turned author Dr Gervase Phinn unveiled a new state-of-the-art £180,000 library at a Leeds school.
Dr Phinn read his own poems and spoke passionately about the value of a school library in today’s digital world during the ribbon cutting ceremony at Beecroft Primary School, Kirkstall.
The new library boasts £8,000 of purpose-built furniture and £9,600 worth of new books, partly funded with £4,000 from a sponsored walk organised by the Friends of Beecroft.
Headteacher June Turner said: “We are very proud of our success in raising £180,000 for the build and £9,600 to spend on books.”
